Botox – when it’s not suitable

Dr Singh who runs his botox clinic in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, in his latest blog shares his thoughts on when you cant have botox.

The majority of time most patients will be fine to undertake botox injections, but there are certain instances when we will not carry out botox.

If you are under 18, then we will not administer any botox. The reason is the muscles are not fully developed and we want everything to be stable prior to you undertaking botox treatments.

If you are pregnant or breast feeding we will not allow you to have botox. In theory there is no danger, however it is better to be safe than sorry.

If its not suitable for you. Either because you need fillers or you dont need botox. If when you use your facial expressions and no new lines or the existing lines worsen, then botox is not suitable for you.

If you are allergic to eggs. The same protein that is found in eggs, also occurs in botox.

If you have any neuro muscular conditions, then we will not carry out any botox treatments.

If you are taking certain medications, notably antibiotics that are amino glycosides. The botox can interfere with these drugs.

The reason why we have certain contraindication to botox treatment, id that we want the procedure to be safe and you be happy with the results from the botox injections.

botox and fillers

Dr Singh who runs his botox clinic in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, in his latest blog talks about botox and fillers.

Many patients are confused on when botox is suitable for their requirements or when filler is better suited.

Botox works on motion lines. These are lines that either appear or worsen when you carry out facial expressions. Botox can be used either to reduce or eliminate these lines. Botox is normally used in the upper third of the face t treat, frown lines, forehead lines and smile lines around the eyes.

Fillers on the other hand compared to botox, works on static lines or folds. As the name suggests fillers plump up the skin. So the most common areas are the nose to mouth lines and the mouth to chin lines. Fillers can also be used for the lips and cheeks.

This is a general guideline and before you decide whether its botox or fillers, always have an assessment carried out by a suitably qualified practitioner.

Botox Stevenage

Dr Singh who runs his botox clinic in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, in his latest blog shares his thoughts about the experiences of patients requesting botox in Stevenage.

Stevenage botox patients have benefited from my home clinic for now over 18 months. I never expected the population of Stevenage to be so interested in my botox services.

Not only have the patients come in, they have refereed their friends and family within Stevenage to experience the botox treatments.

The only drawback of having Stevenage botox patients is that since I also live In Stevenage, I will bump into my botox patients whilst walking through town or shopping locally.

The problem is that the most of my botox patients don’t tell their partners or husbands about their botox injections. So I sometimes get ignored by my botox patients or when they introduce me, they make up a story about work, etc.

The botox patients also have my name under something else in their phone and would never dream of putting something like botox Stevenage as a contact name.

Never mind, I don’t take it personally, all part of the job.

Botox around the eyes

Dr Singh who runs his botox clinic in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, in his latest blog talks about botox around the eyes.

The most commonest reason my patients request botox for around the eyes are due to the smile lines, also known as crows feet.

Most botox patients fall into one of two groups regarding their smile lines. The first are those that just use their eyes when they smile. In these patients the lines are quite high up the eye and normally don’t go lower down than the mid point of the eye.

The second group are known as cheek smiles and they sue their cheeks when they smile. These botox patients will have lines normally stretching from the mid point of the eyes to the cheek area.

It is vital before you administer the botox injections, you know which type of smiler the patient is. Then you can administer the botox int he correct position.

A lot of patients ask whether having botox around their eyes, will effect them from smiling. My answer is no, if done correctly. You wills till be able to smile after the botox treatment.

The other advantage that having botox around the eyes is that it can make the eyes appear slightly more open and therefore bigger.
