botox – what excuse will you use?

Dr Singh who runs his botox clinic in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, in his latest blog talks about the stories my female botox patients tell their partners when visiting me for their botox injections.

The majority of my female botox patients do not tell their husbands or partners that they have regular botox treatments. And in certain cases they will fabricate the reason why they visit me or if they swell or bruise how this happened.

The commonest reason they say is that they are visiting their dentist instead of visiting for their botox jabs. In theory, they are not lying, since I am a dentist.

Immediately after the treatment, there is a slight swelling and redness from the botox injections and this normally lasts a maximum of 20 minutes. On one occasion, my botox patient was bought in by her husband, who did not know she was having botox. She then explained to him, post botox treatment, that I did a course of acupuncture on her face and this had caused the slight swelling and redness!

Then what happens if they have a slight swelling or bruising after the botox treatment.

My patients will make up reasons along the lines of walking into a door, hitting their head with a kitchen cupboard, etc.

The only downside to the above excuses is if they have a bruise on both sides of the face from the botox treatment, this is a much harder thing to explain away.

The best excuse I heard was a botox patient had a slight bruise around her eye. When waking up, the husband notice this and asked her what had happened. She told him that he had elbowed her at night time whilst asleep and this had caused the bruise. At the end of the day, the husband retuned from work with a box of chocolates and some flowers, since he felt so guilty about the bruising. Even after this, the botox patient, still did not give the game away that the bruise was caused by a botox injection!
