Tear Trough – now we can treat this

The revolutionary new treatment that banishes your eyebags in just TEN minutes

They say the eyes are the windows to the soul. And I’d always regarded mine as my best feature until two distinct ledges seemed to form under my windows.

Some days my eyes simply looked a little puffy, but throw in a few late nights and I soon looked as if I’d gone a couple of rounds with Mike Tyson.

My eyebags were caused by a combination of bad genes and lifestyle. An abundance of nights spent dancing and drinking, coupled with copious amounts of caffeine, had contributed. As for genetics, I had my father to blame for that.

Then I heard about a new, revolutionary ‘tear trough treatment’, which promises not only to make bags and dark circles disappear, but to do so in just ten minutes. ‘It knocks seven years off,’ one review stated.

In just ten minutes?

Less painful than a bikini wax?

‘The treatment works on the depressions that run from the nose and around the under-eye area,’ he says. ‘They get more noticeable as the skin sags with age, and fat accumulates. While the surgical removal of eyebags gets rid of the fatty tissue, it doesn’t conceal dark circles.’

This procedure, however, does. It involves carefully injecting a filler called Perlane above the bone of the eye socket, which is massaged into the pocket beneath the eye and around the fatty tissue, plumping up hollows, concealing dark circles and  blending into the cheekbones.

A lifetime of abundance can sometimes lead to awful eyebags, but a new treatment promises to zap them in just ten minutes

The results are instant and last nine to 12 months. Side-effects are mild bruising and swelling but at £500, the treatment costs a fraction of the price of surgery. And unlike an operation, if you don’t like the results, a second injection simply washes the filler away.

Surely it can’t be that simple? It certainly seemed worth a try. Dr Milojevic explained that I might feel a slight pinch as the needle went in but it would only last a split second — and he was right.

‘The filler contains anaesthetic that gets to work straight away,’ he said. I braced myself for the first injection, but before I knew it, it was over. I’ve experienced more discomfort having a bikini wax.
As the left eye wasn’t so bad, it needed less filler. Minutes later, I was done.

‘Can I look now?’ I said excitedly, like a child about to open her first present on Christmas morning.

I was astounded — my eyebags had virtually vanished. The last few years of juggling a busy career, hectic home and social life had been wiped off my face.

There were a few pin pricks and very slight bruising, which worsened the next morning but was easy to cover with make up and had disappeared by the  third day.

I wouldn’t hesitate to have the treatment again — life without my eyebags feels so much lighter.
