Dermal fillers

Dr Singh who runs his botox clinic in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, in his latest blog shares his thoughts on dermal fillers.

Dermal fillers – How can they reverse the sign of ageing?
As we get older our skin loses fat and collagens making it look saggy and wrinkled. Other factors also increase the ageing process such as sun exposure, smoking, poor diet, pollution and alcohol.
Dermal Fillers are a non-surgical injection that restores the collagens and fat to give you a longer lasting more youthful, plump and fresher look and target dynamic lines compared to botox that target motion lines.
How do dermal filler injections work?
Dermal fillers contain hyaluronic acid in a purified form. Before the filler is injected, a local anaesthetic cream is used to numb the area of treatment. The filler is injected in to the desired area of the skin. This purified form of hyaluronic acid is used to build the collagen which restores the volume, lifts the sagging skin and plumps out the folds in the skin.
The dermal filler injections may cause a slight amount of discomfort (a small scratch) however it is not a painful. The dermal filler treatment will last up to 12 to 18 months.
There are a number of areas that dermal filler treatment can be used:
Laughter Lines
Frown Lines
Smokers Lines (these are the lines that appear on the upper lip)
Lines that run from the month to chin (Marionette Lines)
Correct hollowness around the eyes
Cheeks – Having this treatment will create a fuller, youthful lift and correct the laughter lines.
Hands – The Dermal Filler treatment will help to hydrate, lift and plump the hands and fingers, this will add volume in to the sagging skin.
Nose – Dermal Fillers are used to repair a crooked nose or build a higher nasal bridge

The possible side effects from using Dermal Fillers:

You may get a very small amount of bleeding and possibly a small bruise at the injection site due the needle being inserted.

Dermal fillers are normally used to plump up the skin compared to botox that target fine lines and wrinkles.
